what is oa/tof?

OA stands for Oesophageal Atresia (OA) and TOF stands for Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF).

OA/TOF are rare congenital conditions of the oesophagus (food pipe) and/or trachea (airway) that affects 1 in every 3,500 people.

Every child diagnosed with TOF/OA is unique, and each malformation is slightly different, but all TOF/OA cases are broadly classified into types, depending on the position or absence of the TOF / OA. A high level overview of the types is below.
